What makes up the price of a promotional product
Updated
The price of a promotional product is made up of the product, the logo print and the order quantity. The price on the product page already covers a lot: one-colour print in one position, the setup cost, a print proof and delivery in Finland. This page explains what the price includes, where extra costs can come from and how to get an exact price.
The prices on the site are excluding VAT. The final price including the print is confirmed in the quote, once we have seen the logo.
What the product page price includes
The price of a product that can be printed includes:
- the product
- one-colour print of the logo in one position
- setup cost
- a print proof before production
- delivery in Finland.
In that case the text under the price table reads: "Prices include one-colour print in one position and the setup cost." On a product group page the same is shown next to the product as "incl. print".
The print method depends on the material and shape of the product. For example, on many ballpoint pens the logo is applied by pad print, on a metal bottle it is often engraved, and for many cotton bags the price includes a digital transfer print. The product description states how the print included in the price is made. The methods are presented on the page Print methods.
Some products are sold without print, for example many card holders, card lanyards and name badges. The price of these does not include print.
What is priced separately
The following are priced separately in the quote:
- extra colours and other print positions
- print larger than the one included in the price
- a print method other than the one included in the product price
- embroidery on most products
- the embossing die
- products made entirely to your own design.
These are explained in more detail below.
How to read the price table
The price table on the product page shows unit prices by quantity. Each row shows the quantity range for which the price applies, for example 100–249 pcs. The last row applies from that quantity upwards.
When you enter a quantity, the page highlights the correct row and shows the unit price and the total price. The page also shows the next price break: the quantity at which the unit price falls and what it is then.
If a product has no price table, the page says "Price according to quote". This applies, for example, to most products made to your own design.
A larger quantity lowers the unit price
The larger the quantity, the lower the unit price, because the setup cost is spread over the whole batch. For example, in a batch of 50 pcs the share of the setup cost per piece is twice as large as in a batch of 100 pcs. The unit price of many products also falls as the quantity grows.
The minimum quantity is shown on the product page. For most products the minimum quantity is 50 pcs. Many textiles, such as some of the t-shirts, can be ordered from 10 pcs, and many products sold without print, such as card holders, can be ordered even singly.
For many garments the minimum quantity applies to the model as a whole, so the quantity can be divided between different colours and sizes. For some products the quantity is chosen by pack size, and the pack size is shown on the product page.
For some products the setup cost is charged only on small batches. For example, on many soft safety reflectors the setup cost is charged on orders of fewer than 500 pcs, and it is already included in the unit prices on the product page.
Extra colours and other print positions
The price includes one colour in one position. If the logo has several colours or you want it in several positions, for example on both sides of a bag, the extra colours and positions are priced in the quote. In pad print and screen print each colour is printed separately, which is why extra colours are priced separately.
In screen print on a dark garment, a white base colour is printed first so that the logo stands out. The base colour counts as a second colour and is taken into account in the quote.
Gradients and photographs are made with digital print, UV print or sublimation. Because the price includes one-colour print, a full-colour image is priced in the quote. Laser engraving is always one colour, and its shade depends on the material.
Print size
The size of the print also affects the price. On many textiles the print included in the price is made as a heat transfer print on batches of fewer than 100 pcs, with a size of at most A6, and as a screen print from 100 pcs upwards, with a size of at most A4. A larger image, such as a print covering the back, is priced in the quote.
Small products have a small print area, and its size is often given in the product description in millimetres, for example 80 x 10 mm. If the logo does not fit the print area as it is, it is worth using a simplified version of it.
Embroidery price
In embroidery the logo is stitched into the fabric with thread. The price of embroidery depends on the stitch count: the larger and denser the design, the more stitches are needed. The setup costs and the order quantity also affect the price.
On some jackets and beanies embroidery is the method included in the price. For other products the price of embroidery is given in the quote.
Own designs and embossing
The price of products made entirely to your own design, such as your own pins and medals, is given in the quote. Their minimum quantity is usually 50 or 100 pcs.
In embossing, a die is made from the logo and used to press the design into the material. A die is made for each logo and is charged separately.
The proof is free of charge
Before production you receive a print proof to approve. The proof is free of charge, and it shows where and at what size the logo will be printed. Production starts once the proof has been approved.
Also check the colours and the spelling of any text in the proof, because under the terms of delivery the customer is responsible for the correctness of the material to be printed. The page Logo and artwork explains which logo file is suitable for printing.
Delivery and delivered quantity
Prices include delivery in Finland. On orders under EUR 100 (excluding VAT) we charge a single small-order fee of EUR 25 (+ VAT). The lead time for printed products is usually about 2 weeks from proof approval. The lead time for made-to-order products is usually about 4 weeks from proof approval. The lead time for products sold without print depends on the product, and the exact lead time is given in the quote. Because the times are counted from proof approval, also allow time for the quote and the proof.
Products marked with a logo may be delivered and invoiced up to 10 % above or below the quantity ordered: for example, 450–550 pcs on an order of 500 pcs. Products marked with a logo cannot be returned.
Website price and quote price
The prices on the product pages are indicative, and under the terms of delivery the prices on the website are non-binding. The quote basket also shows an indicative total for the products.
The quote shows the price including the print, and the lead time. The quote is valid for 30 days from its date, unless otherwise stated. Deliveries are subject to prior sale, so products may run out before the quote has been accepted.
VAT
The prices on the site do not include VAT, which is added to the invoice. To see prices including VAT, select "incl. VAT" at the top of the page. The product's VAT rate then also appears in the heading of the price table. The standard VAT rate is 25.5 % and the rate for foodstuffs, such as sweets, is 13.5 %.
You can also calculate the price including VAT yourself: multiply the price excluding VAT by 1.255, or by 1.135 for foodstuffs. If you are ordering products as corporate gifts, also read how corporate gifts are taxed.
How to get an exact price
Collect the products in the quote basket and state in the quote request:
- the quantities and the product colours
- the size breakdown for textiles
- the logo position and colours
- the desired delivery date.
You do not need to choose the print method yourself: the quote proposes the method that suits the material and shape of the product. You can attach the logo to the request or send it later, and the request does not oblige you to order.
We reply by email within one working day. The payment term is 14 days net from the invoice date, and any complaints about the products or the invoice must be made within 8 days of receiving the products. The steps of the order are on the page How to order.
Frequently asked questions
How much does embroidery cost?
The price of embroidery depends on the stitch count, the setup costs and the order quantity. A small logo needs fewer stitches than a large, dense design. On some jackets and beanies embroidery is included in the product page price. For other products you get the price in the quote once we have seen the logo.
How much does logo print cost?
On products that can be printed, one-colour print in one position and the setup cost are already in the product page price. Extra colours, other print positions and larger print are priced in the quote.
Why does a small batch cost more per piece?
In a small batch the setup cost is spread over a smaller quantity, so the share per piece is larger. The unit price of many products also falls as the quantity grows. The price table shows the quantity at which the unit price falls.
Is delivery included in the price?
Yes. Prices include delivery in Finland. On orders under EUR 100 (excluding VAT) we charge a single small-order fee of EUR 25 (+ VAT). The fee is the same regardless of how many suppliers' products the order contains.
Is there a charge for the print proof?
No. The proof is free of charge, and production starts only once you have approved it.
