Card holders

A staff card holder, or ID card holder, keeps an access card or name card visible and protects the card from dirt and wear. The range includes portrait and landscape models, hard plastic holders and soft plastic pockets for one or more cards. The holder is attached to clothing with a clip or a safety pin, or hung from a lanyard or a card reel. Nearly all holders are sold without print from one piece, and the unit price is shown on the product page.

Card size and holder orientation

Most hard holders are sized for a CR80 card (54 x 86 mm). Plastic pockets come in many sizes, from small pockets up to A6. The pocket size is given in the product name or product details. Choose the holder orientation to match the card: a portrait model for a portrait card and a landscape model for a landscape card. Many models are available in both portrait and landscape.

Hard holder or soft pocket

Hard holders are made of polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC) or ABS plastic, and they keep the card flat. Soft plastic pockets are made of flexible PVC, also known as vinyl. Many hard holders have a thumb slot that makes it easy to slide the card out. A card ejector makes it easier to use the card at a reader when the card has a chip or a magnetic stripe. A protective pocket made of stronger material suits sensitive cards, such as magnetic stripe cards. The range also includes RFID-shielded holders.

One card or several

Most holders fit one card. For two cards there are double pockets, double-sided holders and pockets with two card slots. In the three-card model, two cards sit at the front and one at the back. Holders with a flexible tab fit 1–5 cards or one thicker card. Check the number of cards in the product description, as some of the models named Duo fit one standard card or two thinner cards.

Open, closed or lockable

The card can be taken out of an open holder quickly. A closable pocket has a flap or a ziplock, and the ziplock keeps moisture and dirt out of the pocket. A lockable holder suits places where the card must not come loose from the holder. Some lockable holders are opened with a key, and in others the lock is permanent.

Attachment

The holder is attached to clothing with a metal or plastic clip or a safety pin, and some models have both. The holder is attached to a lanyard or card reel with a clip or a hook, and some holders come with the lanyard or reel ready attached. Some pockets attach to clothing with a magnet, and an armband holder stays on the arm with an elastic strap. There are also pockets with a suction cup or a self-adhesive back, and there is a separate pocket for the car windscreen, for a vehicle permit for example. Conference badges with a safety pin or a clip suit events, and some of them are delivered with an insert card.

Nearly all card holders are sold without print, and no logo is made on them. Print is included in the price in only a few models, for example the reflective card holder. The minimum order quantity for these models is 50 or 200 pcs. A logo can also be added to the lanyard the holder is attached to.
